Narrative Wolf Of Wall Street



Throughout the trailer of 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'the narrative is quite straight forward in some cases. The structure of this trailer using Todrov's theory is the following: The Equilibrium is shown at  the beginning of the trailer, Jordan Belfort is a successful trader on Wall Street where he is excelling in the corporate hierarchy. The Disequilibrium is portrayed in the trailer when the FBI agents begin  to investigate Belfort for various of different crimes.





The trailer for The Wolf Of Wall Street  uses many narrative techniques typical of Hollywood Drama. Applying Propp's character theory, we  don't have a clear hero in the film but a clear protagonist in the character Jordan Belfort.  In many ways, he is shown to be the a money hungry egotistical character and is destined to be caught and captured by the FBI that drives the narrative, as he is the main protagonist the audience do sympathise with him. Johna Hill  offers the classic sidekick  character  while Rob Reiner  plays the typical brother role. These well known character types quickly help establish the role

The Wolf of Wall Street

There is a very stereotypical representation of gender in The Wolf Of Wall Street. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a rich American trader: rich spoilt, handsome and intelligent to keep his trading business running. This is the exact representation we would expect in a Hollywood drama filim.
